Dansk Tang gets seaweed on our plates

Dansk and Morten Lindberg – a.k.a. Master Fatman (may his positive soul rest in peace) shared a love of seaweed.

In the TV series “Smagen af Danmark”, Master Fatman met up for a talk on the beach with Simon Weber – one of the founders of Dansk Tang. Weber had just finished harvesting fresh bladder wrack and was about to deliver it to his high-end restaurant customers – one of them Noma in Copenhagen.

The two seaweed lovers Fatman and Weber end the programme eating a festive meal based on seaweed and other delicious fresh and natural stuff found locally.

Part of their journey

At Spring Nordic, we are very proud to have been part of Dansk Tang’s journey. As part of our accelerator Scale-Up Denmark Bioeconomy last year, our job was to help the startup with their business strategy and towards internationalization. Now they are well under way with fresh seaweed deliveries to high-end restaurants like Noma and with seaweed products sold all over Denmark

Two business models

Founded by father and son, Claus Marcussen and Simon Weber, Dansk Tang harvest the seaweed themselves and channel it into two business models: Delivering freshly harvested seawed to Danish high-end restaurants like Noma. And making foods with seaweed such as mustard, pesto, oil, beer and salt. Get the delicious food products from Dansk Tang at Danish speciality stores, fish stores and supermarkets.
